After returning from a 2 year working holiday in London in 2007, I was in urgent need of help to get rid of the 10kg “Heathrow injection” I had received, plus the 5kg extra weight I was already carrying beforehand. Over the next year and a half, I managed to lose 10kg on my own using various methods, but once I hit that weight I was stuck. I needed some help and motivation to shed the last 5kg to put me into my healthy weight range. With 8 weeks until my 26th birthday, I searched around for an on-line program that could help me in that kind of timeframe, and stumbled on Maz’s You Are What You Eat. I found the accountability of the food / exercise diary and weekly check ups the best thing for me, keeping me on the straight and narrow. And even now, although less strict on the weekends now I’m closer to my goal, I find it easy and natural to stick to the program most of the time. I was doing little to no exercise before the program, whereas now I really enjoy my morning gym session or walk and feel terrible if I miss it. I am also drinking alcohol during the week far less often. I have lost 6kg and am back in my healthy weight range and whilst I still have a little further to go, I know I will get there.
